There can be various reasons why Piper 3D does not open after installation. Below we have collected the more common error messages and their solutions.
2.1 "Installation failed. Access denied" or "the underlying connection was closed" error message during installation or program startup.**
Solution: It is highly likely that antivirus software is blocking the program. Please add the “Piper3.exe” file to the antivirus application exceptions and try starting the program again.
2.2 "No server connection! The program requires a server connection to run!" error message at startup.**
Solution: First, check if you have a proper internet connection. If you do, then something is likely blocking the connection to our server. Add the Piper3.exe file and the Piper3D folder to the antivirus exceptions. If this does not help and you are working on a corporate network, it is likely that the ports used by Piper need to be allowed through the firewall. Piper 3D needs to communicate with the server through ports 3306 and 80 to identify the user. These ports must be allowed for the program to access the server.
2.3 "A fatal error occurred during installation" or "Please wait while Windows configures Piper 3D"**
Solution: Windows sometimes messes up the desktop shortcut path. Delete the faulty shortcut and create a new one from the Piper3.exe file in the Piper3D folder, then move it to the desktop.
