Opening the Colour designer from the menu or icon view:
On this page, you can set the colours and textures used in the program.
- The different colours are categorized (front, corpus, etc.) to indicate which elements you can choose the given colour for.
- In the top left menu bar, you can select the colour categories you want to list.
- In the boxes next to the colour categories, you can check which category or categories a given colour should appear in.
- We primarily use two different colour setting systems.
- One is for solid (homogeneous) colors. These can be mixed from the red, green, blue (RGB) components.
- The other is texturing, which means filling the surface with an image or texture that has been previously saved in BMP, JPG, or PNG format.
- Both definitions can be independently set for any surface.
- Here is a fundamental difference between normal and photorealistic rendering (POV RAY). In normal rendering, the two systems mix, while in photorealistic rendering, you use either one or the other. Normally, if the fill color under a wood pattern is green, the wood pattern will be green. To avoid issues with the difference between the two systems, the fill color should always be set to white for surfaces using textures.
- The screen is divided into two parts. On the left side, you can set the basic properties of the colours (type, name, etc.), and on the right side, you can set color definitions. Here you can choose whether to edit the Colour or the Texture.
- In the left listing, the different color types are shown, with switches next to them (front, corpus, handle, etc.). Each saved colour can be classified into multiple types using these switches. Clicking on a type will display the associated colours. When you select a color, the properties set for it will appear.
- Above the list, its basic properties are always visible: name, comment, manufacturer, price category, and colour code.
- Here, you can create new colours and modify the old ones.
- The icons below the list allow you to delete, move, and sort colors alphabetically. You can also search for a name.
